Staten Island, NY — Steamfitters Local 638, one of New York’s most respected and historic labor unions, has endorsed City Councilmember Frank Morano in his bid for re-election. Morano was elected in a special election on April 29th and is now seeking a full term in the upcoming Republican Primary on June 24th.

The union, representing thousands of pipefitters and mechanical service workers across the five boroughs and Long Island, praised Morano’s record of standing up for working New Yorkers and his commitment to responsible, results-oriented governance.

“The members of Steamfitters Local 638 are proud to endorse Frank Morano for City Council,” said Robert Bartels, Jr., Business Manager of Steamfitters Local 638. “We are confident that he will bring his track record of advocacy for working New Yorkers and union labor to the NY City Council, and look forward to having Frank on the City Council fighting for a government that works for everyone and supports unionized labor’s efforts to bring access and opportunity to hard-working New Yorkers.”

Steamfitters Local 638, which dates back to 1884, is a combination local representing the steamfitting industry’s construction and metal trades service branches. The endorsement boosts Morano’s campaign, which has been building a broad coalition since his April victory.

Morano welcomed the endorsement, saying it underscores the appeal of his platform across political and economic lines.

“I’m honored to have the support of the hardworking men and women of Steamfitters Local 638,” Morano said. “Their endorsement reflects the kind of broad coalition we’re building—one that believes in accountability, results, and supporting the people who keep this city running.”

With the June 24th primary fast approaching, Morano’s campaign continues gaining momentum among voters and community leaders.
