In the wake of the 2008 recession and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and automation, America’s job landscape has shifted dramatically. Entire industries have changed — with them, the skills required to succeed. As traditional career paths evolve or disappear, our education system must become just as quickly.
Frank Morano believes Staten Island students deserve an education that prepares them for college and the real world. That means aligning what’s taught in the classroom with the demands of today’s and tomorrow’s job markets.
With St. John’s University leaving Staten Island, Wagner College remains the borough’s only private higher education institution. Frank strongly supports Wagner President Dr. Angelo Araimo and Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Doggett in their efforts to realign the college’s academic offerings to reflect the changing economy, prioritizing programs that lead to in-demand, well-paying careers in specialized fields.
Frank also supports expanding partnerships between Wagner, the College of Staten Island, and our local high schools — particularly Tottenville High School and its Career Technical Education & Entrepreneurship (CTEE) programs. These programs provide students with fundamental skills and a clear pathway from high school to college and into the workforce.
By working together to expand vocational and career-oriented education, Staten Island can become a model for how local communities prepare students for the real opportunities of tomorrow. Frank believes everyone should be free to choose their educational path — but it’s the government’s job to ensure those paths lead somewhere.
Real jobs. Real skills. Real opportunity. Frank Morano is ready to make it happen.
