End Mandatory Composting in NYC

City Hall wants to force you to compost—and fine you if you don’t. It’s time to stand up and say Enough is enough.

Composting is important, but penalizing New Yorkers for how they throw away their trash isn’t the way forward. Inspectors shouldn’t be digging through your garbage and fining you over a banana peel or tea bag.

We’re fighting for common-sense legislation—introduced by Council Member David Carr and co-sponsored by the entire Common Sense Caucus—to make composting voluntary, not mandatory.

Let’s encourage environmental responsibility through incentives, not punishment.

Your voice matters. Sign this petition and help us tell City Hall to stop treating New Yorkers like criminals and start respecting their intelligence and common sense.
